This is no fairy tale…
Haunted by nightmares of a black dog, sick to death of my mind-numbing career and heart-numbing fiancé, I impulsively walked out of my life—and fell into Faerie. Terrified, fascinated, I discover I possess a power I can't control: my wishes come true. After an all-too-real attack by the animal from my dreams, I wake to find myself the captive of the seductive and ruthless fae lord Rogue. In return for my rescue, he demands an extravagant price—my firstborn child, which he intends to sire himself…
With no hope of escaping this world, I must learn to harness my magic and build a new life despite the perils—including my own inexplicable and debilitating desire for Rogue. I swear I will never submit to his demands, no matter what erotic torment he subjects me to…
Kayla: Why do you enjoy writing Erotic Romance?
Jeffe: For me, Erotic Romance allows for an intimacy and intensity of interaction between the characters that less erotic genres don’t allow in the same way. I love exploring a character’s changes through their sexual journey. It’s a profound way for a person to discover previously hidden parts of themselves.
Kayla: What is your favorite genre to write in?
Jeffe: Fantasy and romance. Can I pick two? Especially if I tend to combine them a lot?
Kayla: Where did you get the idea for Rogue's Pawn?
Jeffe: At the beginning of the book, my heroine is plagued with a dream about a Black Dog. That was a dream I had many years ago and the images haunted me. I wondered who the Black Dog was and why it was both so alluring and frightening. The story grew from there.
Kayla: What is your favorite Erotic Romance book?
Jeffe: It’s not romance, but I’m a big fan of Anais Nin’s Delta of Venus. She was also interested in exploring the unfolding of character through erotic encounters. She’s an amazing writer, too.
Kayla: Who is your inspiration?
Jeffe: Jacqueline Carey. I would love to come close to accomplishing what she did with her Kushiel’s Dart trilogy.
Kayla: One interesting fact about Rogue's Pawn?
Jeffe: The heroine is a scientist and I trained as one too!
Kayla: Give one reason why someone should read Rogue's Pawn?
Jeffe: Because it’s magically delicious! Or, on a darker note, to find out how to bargain with the fey without losing one's body or soul...
Jeffe Kennedy took the crooked road to writing, stopping off at neurobiology, religious studies and environmental consulting before her creative writing began appearing in places like Redbook, Puerto del Sol, Wyoming Wildlife, Under the Sun and Aeon. Since then, an erotic short, Feeding the Vampire, and another erotic novella, Sapphire, have hit the shelves.
Her contemporary fantasy novel, Rogue’s Pawn, book one in A Covenant of Thorns, will be published in July, 2012.
