interview
Kayla: What has been your most popular book?

Donna: Oh, that's a hard one to answer.  I think it would probably be WICKED HIGHLANDER.  There were/are lots of Quinn fan's out there.

Kayla: What is one thing that you want to accomplish this year?

Donna: You mean besides meeting all the deadlines?  lol
I'd love to hit a list (i.e. USA Today or New York Times).  But that's something I want to accomplish every year. :D

Kayla: How have things went with your newest release?

Donna: They've gone great.  The fans are always so wonderful in posting messages on Facebook and twitter about the characters, not to mention the emails I get.  I love that!

Kayla: What was the process of writing Darkest Highlander like?

Donna: Like any book, there are easy/good days, and others that feel more like giving birth they're so difficult.  With so much going on in the book, not to mention the series, I had to keep constant notes so I would remember everything.  Each book in a long series gets more and more difficult with all the characters, villains, and different story lines going, sometimes all at the same time.

I couldn't wait to write Broc and Sonya's book.  I knew they were going to be special, and they didn't disappoint. :)

Kayla: When is your favorite time and place to write?

Donna: I tend to write the best in the mornings.  As for my favorite place to write - that would be my office.   My office is my haven, and apparently the cats and dog feel the same because they're always in there. lol

Kayla: Do you like physical books or e-books?

Donna: I personally prefer print books.  I understand why so many people like eBooks, but to me, there's just something special about a print book.  The smell of it, of actually turning the page. :)

dgrant_picDonna Grant has been praised for her “totally addictive” and “unique and sensual” stories.  She's the author of more than twenty-five novels spanning multiple genres of romance.  Her latest acclaimed series, Dark Warriors, is a continuation of her bestselling Dark Sword series which features a thrilling combination of Druids, primeval gods, and immortal Highlanders who are dark, dangerous, and irresistible. She lives with her husband, two children, a dog, and three cats in Texas.

Question: You are a matchmaker — your goal, hook up two characters from two of your favorite books. Who would it be? How do you think it would go?

Answer:  Hmm… I choose Reaver from Larissa Ione’s (Demonica and Lords of Deliverance series) to be with Harvester (from the same series). They were both fallen Angels with serious issues… Reaver is on the side of good and Harvester is on the side of Evil. I would love to see them be together because of their personalities… they are both stubborn and determined yet feel compassion and pity for each other at the randomest moments!

Threesome (Dare #3) by Roxy Jacobs (Review)

Title: Dare: Threesome
Author: Roxy Jacobs
Release Date: March 12, 2011
Buy Here: Amazon|Barnes & Noble

Five friends dare each other to commit a specific sexual act within a week, in celebration of the first among them to get married. Sherry asks her two neighbors to join her for her first threesome. This is the third story in the DARE series.

Warning: This SHORT STORY is suitable for 18+ only. It features M/F/M sex, anal play, and is not for the faint of heart.

Excerpt

It wasn't as if they weren't hot. Her breasts swelled just thinking of Jared's round, firm ass and broad chest. Ethan was no slouch either. They both obviously worked out.

When no one answered, she feared no one was home. She couldn't decide if that was a relief or a royal pain. She had to have a threesome in the next two nights, since she'd put it off until Wednesday to try. Fuck it. She could always just show up at girls' night and say she couldn't find two willing men to sleep with her.

Ha. They'd never believe it.

As she turned to hurry back down the hall to her room, she heard the deadbolt unlock. A moment later the door opened. Jared stood in the doorway wearing a white towel and nothing else except wet skin. Yum!

"Oh, I'm sorry to get you out of the shower."

His eyes had made a slow trip up her stockings, over her hips and landed on her breasts, covered only by the small triangles of black satin. Her nipples pebbled under his gaze, and his towel began to dance in front. "It's totally fine. Totally. Fine."

This was a really steamy read. As short as it was, the story telling was great and very vivid. I totally recommend this book if you want a "quickie" as they say.

She was assigned for a threesome. She decided that she would ask her neighbors if they would want to help her with the dare. She first spoke to Jared, and he was more than willing to accommodate her. Ethan came in from the gym (if I remember correctly), and saw Sherry bent over. He almost left if Jared didn't tell him to join them. Jared told him Sherry's "dilemma" and Ethan was just as happy to help.

Overall, this was an enjoyable short read.

But, when her past clashes with her future and lives are at stake - literally - a woman does what she must. Will their love survive her sacrifice?

interview
Kayla: Could you tell us a little about yourself

Jamie: I love to write. To bring new stories into the world and share them with others. That might seem an obvious thing to share, but it really is one of the most important. That...and I love cheesecake. :)

Kayla: If you had one wish to make that would be granted, what would it be?

Jamie: I would love for a breakthrough in Friedreich's Ataxia research and treatment to allow me to dance again someday. :) Sometimes, if I get caught up in just the right song, I can imagine dancing around my backyard.

Kayla: What projects are you currently working on?

Jamie: I have several irons in the fire at this time. I am writing another installment for the Mammoth anthologies. I really love those.

I am also producing a second to my digitally self-published Murder Tales series, The Murder King's Summons. This is the sequel to The Murder King's Woman, a story of Mary, a human raised in the Murder, vampires and werewolves who work together to police the paranormal world.
And, I am working with about 17 other authors from around the world, in multiple languages, on a novel for the International Literary Project to Fight Against Friedreich's Ataxia. The first draft of The Legacy is nearly complete in Spanish and English. It's been so much fun getting to know authors from around the world.
Kayla: What is the best part of being an author?

Jamie: The best part is being able to communicate the things going on in my brain in a fun, entertaining way. Something that doesn't always happen easily as I sit quietly and watch what's going on around me, or disappear into my own thoughts. And I love watching the pride on my husband and kid's faces when they see my dream taking another step forward.

Kayla: Do you prefer to write series or stand alone novels?

Jamie: So far, I think series are what I prefer. I always feel there is more than one story in the story I am telling. And I don't want to leave beloved characters and settings. Even when I try to write a stand alone, so many ideas crop up for a book two. And, of course, nothing less than a trilogy will do. :)

Kayla: If you could say anything to your fans/readers what would it be?
Jamie: I am a very slow writer. However, I am dedicated and determined to write the best story I am capable of. If you stick with me, I will give you many hours of solidly-written entertainment. :)

"One summer, when my brother and I were much younger than we are now, our grandmother took us to the library. I came home with a career aptitude test, my idea of fun reading when I was twelve. My brother still teases me about that. But from that test, I learned I was suited for three careers. Editor, Agent or Writer. It was like getting permission to do something I'd only imagined before. My mind zeroed in on writer and never segued.
In college, I visited a writer's group and was amazed to learn there was an entire organization devoted to writing my favorite fiction: romance. I began devouring writing books and learning as much about the publishing industry as I could. At the same time, my girls were hitting their teens and paranormal stories became more than just an occasional interest.
I have since published two paranormal romance novels and a short story, with several more on the way. I am now branching into paranormal Young Adult stories and an amazing project with BabelFAmily, the International Literary Project to Fight Friedreich's Ataxia.

My rating: 4 Hearts (ABSOLUTELY STEAMING)

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness—beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private wounds... and desires.

The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...

review
Should you read Bared To You? YES, YES, YES, OH FREAKING YES! If this cover don't portray to you how HOT this book is than you should definitely read the pages in between to find out! Man I was so engrossed in this book that I stayed up until 2 o' clock in the morning to read it and even read it while at work!

Bared to You blew my mind... you get to know Eva who is one of the main characters and she is so feisty and kick ass! You will love her, and then you are introduced to Gideon... the man in CHARGE. Eva started a new job at Crossfire and it winds up that Gideon is the owner of that building. On her first day she has a brief run in with Gideon where she fell flat on her ass when she laid eyes upon him... Gideon is literally a "GO GETTER" he quickly lets Eva know flat out that he wants to fuck her.. BAD, but she didn't go for that (the first time)

Both Gideon and Eva are amazing characters, they both have bad pasts and they are uncovered in the story. The sex between these two WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD! I really love how Gideon takes charge and Eva also takes what she wants in bed and out! Eva doesn't take commands from no one and runs out on Gideon on several occasions when he screwed up... and he went running after her to try and get her back. This book provided me with imminent pleasure and I wasn’t even Eva… yeah that’s how hot it was!

I was so glad that I had someone to talk to about this book while reading it!
Cimmaron @ Talk Supe was reading Bared To You at the same time I was and we talked about Bared to You and how amazing it is :D This book had be upset, pissed of, heated up to the max, and all giddy inside! It left me with a feeling of emptiness when it was over! GO READ THIS NOW IF YOU HAVEN'T already! You will love every second of it.

I freaking LOVED Bared to You and I hated when it ended, I SO CANNOT WAIT UNTIL BOOK #2! Sylvia Day is an amazingly talented Author!

Lizzy's friendship with her older boss, Sarah, turns into something deeper and much more exciting one rainy day after work, and Lizzy finds herself drawn into a world she never knew existed. Sarah has a dominant streak, and as she leads Lizzy into the role of a submissive, the two women become closer than they ever thought possible. But while Sarah, hurt too many times, wears a ring, and tells guys she's "taken," Lizzy knows she secretly longs for a man. Determined to find one for them both to share, Lizzy is just about to give up when a dark, handsome, virile answer shows up right under her nose. Lizzy may think she and Sarah are going to seduce David--but she underestimates their handsome co-worker, and David turns the tables on them both. But will he be able to tame the untameable Sarah?

Excerpt:
We found our way to her apartment, which was as familiar to me as home now. Sarah told David to make himself comfortable and we went to change. Her work clothes gave way to a pair of blue sweats and a U of M t-shirt. I noticed she wasn't wearing a bra, and her nipples were still hard from her run through the rain.

She offered me her robe while my clothes dried. I was struck with an eerie sense of deja vu as I slipped on her old terrycloth robe, pale pink and fraying at the edges, the most un-sexy thing I could imagine. I signed as I tossed my blouse and skirt--which I'd been so sure would entice home some young hottie tonight--into the dryer.

Sarah slipped her hands under my robe before I tied it, one hand kneading the sensitive flesh of my belly just above my pubic hair, the other slipping behind me to my lower back. I knew everything I was feeling showed in my eyes because I could see it reflected in her own, and she kissed my eyelids closed and then kissed my mouth, a gentle, tender and reassuring kiss.

I breathed a shaky sigh and she spent a moment feathering kisses on the sweet spot on my neck, just below and behind my ear, which she knew made me instantly wet. Her hand on my belly kneaded lower, slipping under the elastic of my panties and through my pubic hair.

I heard and felt her breath quicken with my own when she found and parted my pussy lips, slipping two fingers through my slit, one on each side of my already swollen clit. I moaned when she wiggled her fingers and she stopped the sound with her mouth against mine. I wondered at her boldness, and glanced toward the door, which was open, but out of the line of sigh of the living room where we'd left David.

Her two fingers moved easily--so wet already!--and found the thin and sensitive sheath of skin covering my clit. The sensation was exquisite, her touch practiced and deft. She applied just a small amount of pressure to the tiny bud of flesh, not so much directly on my clit, just allowing that sweet layer of skin to do the work, rubbing it in slow and easy circles with the flat of her fingers.

Her hand on my lower back allowed her to guide me, support me, and I let my head fall back, pushing my hips forward to meet her hand. She pushed me back against the wall, making faster circles now, easing me gently upward. She pressed her mouth to my ear so I could feel her breath and I whimpered. My nipples rubbed against the terrycloth as I rocked my hips, and I sighed when she slipped both fingers down and pressed them into me as deeply as she could.

"He's got a big, hard cock for you, Lizzie," she whispered, stretching me open even further with both fingers, and then slowly sliding in a third. My eyes flew open at the sensation and the thought. "Do you want it?"

This book was not as great as I hoped it would be. I guess it's just not my cup of tea. I was hoping that it would be interesting and catch my attention, but I feel like I just read it just to finish it. Things got heated up when David joined in, though. The three of them had such a connection, it was quite beautiful. As soon as he joined,  it made me wish I was one of the women.

I would recommend this book if you enjoy reading threesomes with two women.

A retired assassin. A serial killer with a social agenda.
A politician with a fondness for free-range livestock.
Determined to leave her old life behind, retired assassin Leine Basso accepts a job working security at one of television's most popular reality shows, Serial Date. When a contestant is found dead in the prop closet, it appears the killer is one of the 'bachelors' on the show- an ex-con billed as a serial killer- but the detective in charge of the case isn't so sure.
Santiago Jensen, a homicide detective with a playboy reputation is assigned to the reality show murder case. There's instant attraction when he meets Leine Basso, but until they catch the murderer, he has to keep his distance.
When Leine's estranged daughter is abducted by a man claiming to be the real killer, she's forced to rely on old skills to find her, and must come to terms with who she really is. She soon realizes the murderer may be a grisly remnant from her past and she'll need to use all of her cunning to stop him and rescue her daughter.
Excerpt:
CHAPTER 1 Peter Bronkowski peeled himself away from the prop closet. He needed air. The onlookers parted to give him space.
Oh my God, oh my God, they're going to shut us down. When this gets out the motherfuckers are going to crucify me. All the hard work, the hustling, the endless lunches listening to that blowhard Senator Runyon, all of it would be for nothing. Peter shook his head to clear it. His breath came out in fast gasps, threatening to hyperventilate.
At first, Peter thought it was a grotesque looking mannequin with fake blood stains down the front and side of its torso. The moment reality clicked, a jolt of shock split him, pooled behind his eyes and slid to his gut. With dawning comprehension, Peter realized the blood was real. And it was no mannequin.
It was Mandy.
Peter turned back to the prop closet. Everyone stared at him, as if he had the slightest idea what to do now. Fuck. He couldn't see a way out of this. Too many people had seen the body. He thought of his brother, Edward, but brushed the idea away.
Mandy was dead. Murdered. Sweet, small-town-sexy Mandy. Who would want to kill her? Now Tina, yeah, he could sort of see that, she could be quite the bitch. But Mandy? And which one of the cons did it? No getting around it, he'd have to call LAPD. They'd be swarming all over the place. Better find another home for Edward. He wasn't going to like that one bit. Edward didn't do well with change.
Gene Dorfenberger walked toward him, pushing people out of his way.
"Give him some room! The man can't think with you crowding him like that." Reluctantly, the small crowd began to disperse, a few stealing one last look at the gruesome sight.
Gene glanced at Mandy's body and shook his head. "Now why would somebody go and cut off her arm?" He edged closer, squatting to take a better look. "And an ear? What kind of sick fuck would do that?"
Peter froze. "Her ear's missing?"
"Yeah."
Peter shook his head to clear it. It can't be. He took a deep breath to try to stop the dizziness. Everything was spiraling out of control.
Originally slated as low-cost filler for summer, Serial Date had turned into the most watched reality show on television. Less than a year and a half ago he couldn’t get the mailroom clerks to return his calls much less the now regular invitations to private parties and dinners with the network brass. They all wanted a piece and Peter had happily parlayed the lust for the extraordinary profits generated by the show into extra bargaining power.
This is it. It's over. We'll never recover.
"It's going to be rough. You're going to have to do some major damage control." Gene's sharp gaze traveled from the massive amount of blood soaked into the costumes scattered around Mandy back to Peter.
Peter nodded, his expression grim. "We've got to get somebody legit in here so the cops'll think we're taking steps to keep the contestants safe."
If Gene took offense at the comment, he didn't show it. "I think I know just the person. It'll take some doing, but I hear she's strapped for cash."
Peter looked at Gene with disbelief. "She? Gene, we need somebody who'll keep the fucking cops at bay, not another broad on the set."
Gene shook his head. "Oh, this one ain't just another broad, believe me."

CHAPTER 2
Leine Basso dropped her purse on the floor, kicked off her shoes and stalked across her apartment to the kitchen. She opened the refrigerator door and grabbed a beer. The old appliance clanked in protest.
Holding the cool bottle to her forehead, she walked over to the couch and dropped onto it, sighing with relief. Three down, two to go. God, she hated looking for a job. Especially when it seemed like everyone and their brother was out there doing the same thing.
Leine set the bottle on the thrift-store maple coffee table, leaned back and hiked up her skirt, struggling to peel off her pantyhose. It wasn't easy. The oppressive heat and the high humidity was fairly unusual for Seattle, even if it was the middle of August. Didn't matter if she took a shower or not; once she stepped outside, she was as damp as if she had.
Why didn't I just stay at the last job? Leine paused for a moment in her battle for freedom from the polyester and nylon blend. Oh yeah. Because you didn't like the creep masquerading as your boss and he ended up on the floor with a broken collar bone when he tried to grope you. A real player. Not only that, but he was a few heads shorter than Leine's five-foot-ten inches and she knew from experience that the guy would continue to be on her ass, one way or another, in order to prove himself the alpha dog. A lot of short guys had a chip on their shoulder. Except her husband, Frank.
Correction: her ex-husband.
The marriage hadn't exactly worked out. She made it four years.
Giving up on her stockings for the moment, she crab-walked back into the kitchen, opened the freezer and stuck her head in. Too bad her whole body didn't fit. Between the sound of her breathing and the death rattle of the fridge, she barely heard her cell phone go off.
She backed out and shut the freezer door, stuck her hand in her purse and grabbed her phone.
"Leine Basso."
"Leine? It's Gene Dorfenberger."
That was a blast from the past. Why would Gene be calling her?
"Hey, Gene. It's been a while."
"Yeah. Hey I got a line on a sweet job that you'd be perfect for. The only thing is, it starts right away and it's in L.A. You available?"
L.A. Not her first choice. Too many memories and they weren't happy.
"Depends on the job, Gene. I'm not freelancing anymore."
"No, no, nothing like that. See, I work for this guy named Peter Bronkowski. He's got a small problem and I was thinking you could fix it for him. He needs some special protection for his TV show. Ever heard of Serial Date?"
"I never watch television." Leine walked back to the freezer and stuck her head inside again.
Crappy airless one bedroom apartment.
"Oh. Well, it's this gigantic hit reality show that uses ex-cons as dates for really hot looking women, only the guys are billed as serial killers."
"This is a hit show?" Last time she had a TV, she emptied her clip into it after watching a sitcom. Apparently, she hadn't missed much.
"Yeah, the biggest. Anyway, one of the contestants was killed and …"
Leine brought her head up, barely missing the edge of the old Hotpoint. "How do you know she was killed?"
"Pretty obvious. I don't know of anybody who'd cut off their own arm and ear before killing themselves. Van Gogh she ain't."
"Any ideas who might've done it? I mean, you've got how many ex-cons on the set? Did you check their records to see which ones did time for violent crimes?" Had the world gone crazy while she wasn't looking? Employing ex-cons wasn't usually a big deal, but putting them in close proximity to a bunch of beautiful women and having them act like serial killers made no sense at all.
"Not yet. Peter's delaying the call to the police until I talk to you. What do you think? Interesting?"
Interesting wasn't the word.
"Why me? Why not some off-duty cop or something?"
"Because I trust you. I don't trust anybody else when it comes to family."
"What do you mean?"
"You remember my sister, Ella?"
Leine remembered that Gene was holy-shit-scared of Ella, with good cause. A fierce lady, she didn't take kindly to Gene's bullshit. He had the scars to prove it.
"Ella's kid's working on set as a gopher and I can't keep an eye on her all the time. I figured with the two of us we'd be able to make sure she stayed safe."
"So you think the killer's still hanging out on the set?"
"I don't know. Nobody has a clue, but obviously there are a lot of suspects. I'd feel better if you were here to back me up."
"How much and how long?"
"Peter said to offer you two large a week if you could start right away.  It runs until they find who did it, maybe longer."
Two-thousand a week was a hell of a lot better than what she made now, which was nothing. And it's not like it would be a tough gig. She could probably get used to L.A. again. Mainly, she didn't like the people and she knew how to avoid people.
"I'll take it."
