1. Tell us about your 52 short stories in 52 weeks experience. How many pages did you get to per story and did you struggle?
Some weeks were a struggle, but the more I wrote, the easier it became. I also invested in a handy writer's prompts book to help when I was really stuck to find an idea. I used "A Creative Writer's Kit" by Judy Reeves. I think she's got a couple other books like that out there too.2. Do you prefer ice cream or froyo?
Some of the stories were long, 14 pages, and some weeks I wrote flash fiction, murder in 250 words or less. :) It was one of the best things I ever did for my writing. I put my 25 favorite stories into my "Forgotten Treasures" collection and dedicated the book to Ray Bradbury who gave me the challenge in the first place...
Ice cream!!! My favorite flavors are peanut butter and chocolate and Mint Chocolate chip... Yum!3. Do you prefer witty characters who always make you chuckle or seductive characters oozing of sexual appeal?
Oh I definitely lean toward the seductive dark tortured characters...Arianne: I think I like the witty characters because they can be sexy and funny at the same time. With a seductive character, my hormones would be in overdrive all the time. I don't think I can handle that. Yikes!
4. What is the weirdest fan encounter you've had?
Hmmm... I don't have one yet! So far all my readers have been the coolest peeps on earth! :) *knock on wood*Arianne: Well, we have to change that, don't we? *ehem*
5. How does your family react on your uber success?
Ha! I think we're still waiting on the uber success! LOL My family is pretty proud of me, and my hubby is my number one fan... :)6. If you could be a paranormal character, which would it be, and why?
Oh I would want to be Fae because I would LOVE to be magical... *dreamy sigh* I think it would be wonderful! :)7. Anything you would like to ask our readers?
What makes you take a chance on a new-to-you author?

Arianne's Review: Night Walker
He gave up his soul for a second chance to love her...
Two and a half centuries ago, Calisto Terana lost everything when a zealous priest murdered the woman he loved. Now, desperate for another chance to love her, he wants redemption for the mistake that cost her life.
She's haunted by dreams of her own death...
After catching her fiance with another woman, Kate Bradley returns to San Diego to clear her head. The last thing she needs is romance, but after meeting Calisto she's drawn to him in ways she doesn't understand.
They've waited in the shadows for centuries...
Calisto has no doubt Kate is the reincarnation of his lost love, but the Fraternidad Del Fuego Santo has a new watcher with dark ambitions of his own. As old enemies reemerge and a new threat arises, the betrayal that enslaved Calisto to the night might destroy the only woman he's ever loved again.

Calisto raised a brow. The small yellow car was not what he expected. “Just a sec, I’ve gotta let you in from the driver’s side.” Kate leaned across the steering wheel and unhooked the bungee cord that held the passenger door closed. He had no love for automobiles. They weren’t from his era and since he had the ability to fly, he didn't see the purpose in learning to drive a car. That did not mean he hadn’t ridden in many BMWs, Lexus, Jaguars, and Bentleys. He knew the luxury of leather seats and climate control. This car had neither. He schooled his features to hide his doubts about the car’s viability when he tugged the door closed. The driver’s door had vice grips where the window crank should be, a bungee cord held the passenger-side door closed, and duct tape covered the small tear in the corner of the convertible top. Even though it was November, she had the top of her faded VW bug folded down. He envisioned a surfboard hanging out the back like many of the college students who came to La Jolla in search of waves to ride. Kate claimed she didn't belong in California, but her car most certainly did. |

I like when an author gives an interview and I can get a feel for their personality by the answers. I also like someone who speaks their mind.

thank you for that :) we'll keep it in mind!
ReplyDeleteThe blurb or characters
ReplyDeleteI love Night Walker! I love the cover, every time I see it I think of that song " I'm to sexy for my shirt" lol! and I love the author, she a very cool person! :) Awesome giveaway Arianna & Kayla!!
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteFirst is the interviews (the possibility to know the author behind the book), then the reviews (those give you an idea if the book is any good), then the blurbs (sometimes with the blurb is enough) and sometimes if I win the book and like it I end up buying the whole series (I've done that many times. the free book gives you the opportunity to get to know the author without risking it).
If I like the excerpt from the book, and the author gives an interview with a few details describing a little background on the characters, storyline, creative process, and provide info on if it's a stand alone or a series...if I like what I'm reading...I'll usually bite. It never hurts to see contests and free chapter reads too...to garner interest. Thx for the giveaway op! :)
ReplyDeletegreat interview. I'm with you Lisa, I'd love to be magical too if I could pick a character to be.

ReplyDeleteWhen the author is new to me, I generally try to read at least a couple of excerpts, and the free start at Amazon. I also tend to check if some of the reviewers that I tend to agree with had read the book.
ReplyDeleteHi June! *waving*
ReplyDeleteI do the exact same thing! LOL But I often discover the new-to-me-author on a book blog first...

For me, the decision to try a new author is primarily driven by my love of books and my need to find something new. Secondly from the recommendation of others. I don't like to feel like I'm missing out so if people say "this book is great" i need to know how great it is.
ReplyDeleteRecommendations from book buddies heavily influences me too Shona!!! :) Thanks for commenting!
ReplyDeleteLisa
Usually when I try a new author it's because of the blurb or summary. I just like what I have read and want more! Other times it's from recommendations from people I know or blog posts like this one!
ReplyDeleteI need this book I have decided!
totally awesome :) did you read my review?
ReplyDeletefor me, I sometimes follow the hype... I enter lots of giveaways for a popular book. if there's not enough giveaways for it, I just usually ignore it. But I learned that reading the blurb is more important lol

I feel the same way.. Maybe not the competition though lol
ReplyDeleteI find new authors by just choosing synopsis that look good or if I hear about it from friends. I enjoy trying new authors and indie books. I think for my if the synopsis and story premise sounds good then I will give it a chance.
