All his life he felt he hadn’t belonged but it wasn’t until Clarity Langford appeared did he know the truth of it. Once that truth was revealed there was no going back for Connor Angus, only forward. He discovers he is the long thought dead son of pack Elite leader, Charles Langford. And with that knowledge comes a family full of sisters, mystery and longing for things he’s not sure he has any right to obtain and one of those things is Cordelia Sinclair.

Falling back into the kitchen cabinets, he briefly clutched his side. “Damn it, you’re just not going to give up easily, are you?”

“Why should I?” She eyed him cautiously.

“Because I could seriously hurt you.”

“Now why don’t you just give it your best shot then we’ll see just who gets hurt.”

The man slowly shook his head. “All right, now remember, you asked for it.” He threw a punch that landed squarely on the left side of her head.

Cordelia shook it off but it still left her ear ringing. Grabbing his other arm, she charged into his stomach with her head and flipped him over her back. He landed with a resounding thud on the floor next to the table and on top of the broken china. She was only able to stand there a moment, her sides heaving, when she was knocked off balance by his leg making a wide sweep. It almost knocked the air completely out of her but she managed to throw another punch on her way down.

He grabbed her fist and twisted her arm, picking her up and shoving her facedown once again on the table.

“You have no right being on top of me, so get the fuck off.” She gasped for breath, his added weight making it hard to even move a centimeter.

“You know, I think you’re a little bit sexy when you’re pissed like this. I can smell your pheromones. You want me.” He took a long, slow whiff of her, as if to imprint her on his memory.

“I don’t even know you!” She screamed and tried to buck him off her even as her nipples hardened under her. Heat swelled in the V of her thighs and feelings began to overwhelm her. Feelings that she had never felt before in all her life. Not even with her husband. It was like her body already knew this man intimately.

He leaned down into her softness, and she could feel his body coming to life. His hardness pressed into her butt and all she wanted to do was to get herself out of her pajamas. Thank God, she had decided to sleep with them on last night.

“If I didn’t know better, I’d say that you like it this way.” He ground his body into hers a little more. “Take that back, I know you like it. I can smell it on you and your wet body is telling me exactly what you want. Your body is betraying you.”

Enraged, she slammed her head against his nose. “You don’t know me well enough to know how I like it. And you don’t know anything about my body.”

She heard him groan as she cracked his face. Still, he wouldn’t let go.

“It’s not going to be that easy,” he whispered close to her ear. He started to rock his now very hard cock into the gentle curve of her ass as he rained light, feathery kisses on her neck.

God, he almost had her undone. “What are you doing to me?”

“What do you want me to do to you?” he questioned and flipped her over to stare into her face. Reaching down, he placed his hands on either side of her head and pulled her up to meet him. Lips and tongues met forcefully, pulling and tasting and testing. Gently, he nipped at her bottom lip.

He felt so good up against her. Greedily, she put her hands under his T-shirt and felt the muscles. There was no way that she could have beat him no matter how hard she tried. Letting her hands roam up his chest, she plucked his nipples until they were hard, delighting in the sound he made.

“God, woman, you make me crazy.” Reaching for the collar of her shirt, he ripped it down the center, revealing her taut breasts.

“That’s not fair,” she whispered. “Take this off.” Cordelia tugged at his T-shirt until she pulled it over his head. He looked at her for a long moment, before leaning down to take her nipple in his mouth. She could see the bruises spreading across his cheeks and knew she must have some too. The original question of who he was floated into her mind, but at this very moment she didn’t give a damn.

Promo: Captive of the Cattle Baron

Today's promo is a sweet contemporary romance with a rancher! I do love me a bit of western romance :) I hope you enjoy!

Title: Captive of the Cattle Baron
Series: Selkirk Family Ranch, #1
Author: Irene Vartanoff
Self-Published
Release Date: June 15, 2015
Pages: 226
Buy Link: Amazon

Blurb:

Abducted by rancher Baron Selkirk—okay, it was an accident, but now he won't let her go!—former TV child star turned horse whisperer Addie Jelleff enjoys a respite from the media circus that ruined her quiet retreat in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, but she's due back to town to defend her actor pal at his trial very soon. Baron's vast, isolated ranch is only one of his many attractions, but he's awfully domineering and she can't possibly give in to their growing attraction while she's virtually his prisoner, can she? Baron sees the situation differently. Forced to drop his geology career and take over the family ranch, he's frustrated by too many people saying no to him. Isn't he in charge? Why is Addie so mysterious about her past and her commitments to another man? Why won't she give in to Baron, when every time they touch, they catch fire? It's a battle of wills—with neither one backing down. Addie can tame the wildest stallion, but taming her own growing attraction to the high-handed rancher and keeping him from breaking through her defenses requires all her strength—and some help from unexpected sources.

“Why do I get the feeling that you do not want to cooperate and arrange to get me back north?” she cried.

“Because it’s true.”

Her mouth dropped open.

“You were in sad shape earlier today,” he said. “Would it hurt you to stay here for a while and recover fully?”

“If it was my free choice, that would be different,” she said, crossing her arms and glaring at him.

“At this moment, I don’t believe you’re in any shape to make a rational free choice about yourself, so I’m choosing for you. For now, you stay on my ranch, where you will be safe and can recover.” His expression was adamant.

She let out an exasperated breath. “We’re getting nowhere.”

“Then go back to bed. Rest.”

He’d defeated her for the moment, but only for the moment, she promised herself. She walked toward the kitchen door. “Good night.”

He moved away from the stove to intercept her. “No need to wear yourself out all over again. I’ll carry you up,” he said.

She stopped dead. Being in his arms, alone with him, in the middle of the night? That would be asking for trouble. “No, thanks. I’m good.”

“Are you?” Baron gave her whole body a comprehensive look, but lingered on her face. His eyes held an expression she understood all too well. What he wanted from her in the middle of the night was clear.

Her breath was giving her trouble again. Her limbs tingled and her breasts ached. She whirled and sped out of the kitchen, not daring to look back. It took all her energy to climb the stairs, shaky as she was now from the awareness that had suddenly spring up between them. She locked her bedroom door, trying to keep herself in as much as keep Baron Selkirk out. This never happened to her. She could not recall ever being so sexually carried away over so little. Over a mere glance. A few seconds more, and they could have been having sex on the kitchen counter.

Baron held his breath until she turned on the landing and was out of sight. Finally, he exhaled. What the hell just happened? They’d gone from arguing to sizing each other up as potential lovers. He knew the signs. What about his offer to carry her up to bed? Sheer madness. She was smart to turn him down, because he would have been in that bed with her, making love to her despite her fragile condition. From the look she’d given him, she’d considered it.

He policed the kitchen, stowing the plate and the pitcher of tea, and turning off the lights. His pulse was still jumping. Feisty Addie did that to him, turned him into a tyrant who wouldn’t hear of letting her leave. Were all men pigs? Offering to carry her to bed. Right. Genius. He was lucky she hadn’t laughed in his face. She’d gone pink instead. He’d seen the flush that rose in her cheeks. Her hands had trembled a bit, too. She’d known what he wanted. Maybe she’d wanted it, too.

The nightgown under her robe had hidden her major assets modestly, but had ended above her knees, showing off nicely shaped legs and pretty toes with pink polish. He shoved his feet into his boots, and flung on a coat. He needed to walk this off. Women knew how to make the most of their power over men. Here he was salivating over Addie, a near stranger, because he’d seen her toes. Too bad his housekeeper hadn’t found Addie a granny gown that reached the floor and hid those toes. Whatever a granny gown was.

Seduction in a Santa Claus suit?

When millionaire Chaz Monroe goes undercover at the ad agency he bought, he has to figure out why his star employee, Kim McKinley, won't work on the very important Christmas campaign. He'll go to any length to get answers from the beautiful go-getter--if he has to kiss them out of her, so be it.

Kim can't believe Chaz's nerve. So why is she always falling into his arms...and into his bed? Soon, this exasperating man unlocks her secrets just in time for a Christmas she'll never forget...and one he may never live down!

Kim and Chaz were instantly attracted to each other when they first met. I liked that Kim was not someone who would back down, especially not against someone who she believed "stole" the position that was promised to her.

"Are you sure you won't change your mind and invite me over if I say please and categorically deny being a stalker, providing references upon request?"

Chaz, on the other hand, had good intentions. I loved the moments when he tried to make an effort to bring Kim "to the other side"... The side that enjoyed Christmas and celebrated it.

"Semantics. I didn't send the tree. I brought it."

Other characters I enjoyed were the doorman and Kim's best friend, Brenda. They were such witty characters and provided great comedic dialogues.

I especially liked when Brenda would help Chaz, even before she knew his intentions. She was a great friend to Kim.

"I'm a man, and she was in pajamas."

Unlike most contemporary books I've read, I wasn't overly attached to the characters of this book. I did enjoy the sexual tension :)

Hollie Thomas, the feisty, tattooed office assistant to Grayce Walters, has come a long way from living on the streets. Along with finding a job she loves, she’s found friends and safety. When her new life unravels, she faces dangers that dwarf her troubled past. Fighting to survive, she discovers that sometimes what you need the most might be found in the one person you failed to see coming.

Returning home from the war and struggling to find his way, Sergeant Nick Welby, and his bomb-sniffing golden lab, use their skill set in the last place he’d ever imagined—Seattle’s Waterfront. To protect the one woman who matters, Nick and his trusty canine partner will risk everything to rescue her and Seattle from disaster.

Embroiled in Grayce Walters’ most perilous case—a terrorist plot with the threat of deadly explosives—can Nick and Hollie work together to save themselves and each other before it’s too late?

Nick’s mind and body were at ease after the hour with Dr. Walters. Doc Samson was right-on—the tiny woman had special gifts. Having been raised on a horse farm, Nick had immediately recognized the veterinarian’s intuitive connection in relating to and comforting animals.

Simply being in Dr. Walters’s presence was restorative, as evidenced by Talley sleeping soundly on the floor. As Talley’s handler, he was connected to the dog at a level most people couldn’t understand. When his partner relaxed, he felt the same.

Dr. Walters, looked up from her note taking. “I’d like to treat Talley once a week for the next three months. You live in Auburn. Will it be a problem to drive into Seattle?”

“Not a problem, ma’am. I’d do anything for this dog.”

She leaned across her desk. “Do you swim, sergeant?”

“Yes, ma’am.” He didn’t have a clue what swimming had to do with the acupuncture.

“I’d like you and Talley to start swimming in a lake or deep river. It’s important you do it together.”

“Lake Youngs is close by our family farm. Talley and I can swim there.”

“Water will soothe Talley’s ratcheted up nervous system.”

Why did he feel as if the doctor wasn’t talking just about Talley?

She closed the file on her desk. “Don’t do any training around the swimming. Talley needs a real break from her work. Her senses, especially her focus and her nose are working overtime. She’ll have a break in the water.”

Nick nodded. “It’ll be great to swim after our morning runs.”

“Sounds like we’ve got a plan. Let’s see how the swimming works.” Dr. Walters stood from her desk and walked toward the door. “I can hear that my assistant is back. She’ll make your appointment for next week.”

Talley sat up with the doctor’s movements. With her front paws planted forward, the usually hyper dog stretched her spine and then slowly hoisted herself to follow Dr. Walters. He couldn’t explain exactly what had happened, but like Talley, he felt a deep sense of relaxation. For the first time since he had arrived stateside, he could breathe calmly and catch glimpses of the contented man before the war. He and a tranquil Talley followed the doctor to the outer office.

Dr. Walters stopped suddenly in the doorway. A young, curvaceous woman was balanced on the stool, reaching into cupboards, as she sang the painful lyrics from Nirvana’s song “Sliver.”

When she stretched her entire body forward, her short black skirt inched higher, giving him an incredible view of her sweet, rounded backside. He swore under his breath at the tempting sight. She wore fishnet tights and thigh-high boots that were right out of every red-blooded male’s fantasy.

His whole body tightened, not in danger but in hunger. Lust and need hummed through him, an invigorating feeling that he hadn’t experienced in a very long time.

Blurb:

Seventeenth century Highlander Michael Cameron should have been prepared for his journey to Philadelphia in 1895. After all, it wasn't the first time he'd been kidnapped by two mischievous muses, who delighted in taking him by surprise and shuffling him off to far-flung lands and eras. But nothing could have readied him for angelic Gabriella Murray, the Duchess of Northampton. She’s a beautiful, lovely, gorgeous—did he mention just how bonny Gabby is?—duchess, and he’s a lowly Scot. How is he going to solve the missing children case the muses have given him with such a distracting woman?

Becoming friends with a muse, Gabby feels her life has taken a turn for the fantastic, which suits her fine, since being a duchess is gray and depressing. So, when that muse asks her to go on an adventure imitating her idol, Sherlock Holmes, of course she says yes. However, Michael, who is to play her Dr. Watson, is quite possibly the most handsome and intriguing Highlander she’s ever encountered. Lord, Sherlock never had to contend with an overwhelming desire for Watson. How can she concentrate on the case when he’s more fun than she’s ever had before?

As Michael and Gabby hunt through the mean streets of cities such as Chicago and Detroit, they dive deeper into a world of danger and violence. Fighting against their growing attraction to each other, they race against time to find the children, knowing that with every corner they turn, they might be too late.

“So,” his smile waned, “the point of that long story is there are some men who wouldn’t want ye to be invisible, wouldn’t want ye to not have a say. That’s a double negative sentence, ‘tisn’t it?”

“It doesn’t matter.”

“It does. I asked Polymnia to tutor me with grammar, and I’m really tryin’ to sound—”

“Absolutely perfect, Michael. You sounded perfect.”

“Nay.”

“Yes.”

“Nay.”

“Highlander—”

“Nay, it didn’t.”

“Oh, shut u—”

“Did ye almost tell me to shut up?”

She covered her mouth with her fingers. “I’m sorry, but I nearly did.”

“Ye more or less told me to shut up.” He frowned, but she noticed his dark hazel eyes

twinkling.

“Again, terribly sorry about that.” She folded her hands together. “But I well-nigh did.”

“Was the nigh for my sake, being I’m a thousand years old?”

“Of course it was, you fossil. As I was saying, your sentence was perfect. I loved it. And if you try to correct it, I’ll—”

“You’ll do what?” Now, he held a tiny smile as he leaned closer, domineering over her.

She pushed against his massive chest, but he wouldn’t budge, which—oddly enough—made her laugh. “You must stop this, Michael. I’m giving you fair warning.”

He scooted even closer, towering even more over her. “What are ye goin’ to do, Gabby?”

His voice was low and turned into velvet.

She shook her head once. “I’m warning you…”

“Aye. But ye’d better follow through with yer threat.”

She sighed as if annoyed, to which she wasn’t in the least. “Very well then.”

He started to smile even wider, but then she leaned closer. He stilled as she tilted her head just so, her visage even with his neck. He wore a modern shirtfront with a blue cravat that matched his dapper kilt. However, his collar wasn’t too high and revealed a wildly beating vein. His scent enveloped her as she glided her nose against that pumping vein. His breath hitched. Oh, she liked this game. Perhaps loved it a little.

Then she bit him right on that vulnerable mark where her nose had been. She’d masticated hard enough for him to draw away, sucking in a breath.

She batted her eyes and smiled coyly. “I did warn you.”

“Vicious wee thing, aren’t ye?” he whispered, holding his hand over her bite mark. “Why, I have in mind to take ye over my knee and spank ye.”

Review: Game Changer Review

Title: Game Changer
Series: Bomb Squad, #3
Author: Melissa Cutler
Publisher: Penguin Group
Release Date: May 19, 2015
Pages: 311
Buy Link: Amazon

Blurb:

Welcome to Destiny Falls, New York, home of Bomb Squad--an ice hockey team full of rugged military heroes. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity has the team captain packing his bags for greener pastures, but saying good-bye to the woman who'd captured his heart is easier said than done...

After being wounded in combat, Brandon Theroux lives every day like it's his last. He never could have imagined that the sleek mechanics of his prosthetic leg would open so many doors, including minor celebrity status as a fitness model and a well-earned reputation as a rakish playboy. The only door it hasn't opened is the one to Harper Johnson's bedroom.

Harper has too much self-respect to join the ranks of Brandon's "carpe diem" conquests, but when she needs someone to keep the peace in the tavern she owns, Brandon offers his help--as long as she agrees to a very tempting trade. It isn't long before the two realize that a deal struck between friends who can't keep their hands off each other has the potential to be a whole lot hotter than either of them is prepared to handle...

The kind of book is an unpredictable book, and Game Changer would throw you into a frenzy of unexpected situations!

The way this book started, I couldn't imagine how it could possibly go on like a typical romance novel. However, the more I read, the more I fell in love with the characters. It was a slow burn, as true love usually tend to be. I witnessed the characters appreciate each other as human beings, and it was surely something to cherish.

Harper was such an independent woman that she needed no one but herself. I strive to be this kind of woman, but I also fear of loneliness. Harper seemed lonely at times, but Brandon somehow was by her side when she needed him the most.

Brandon was actually younger than Harper and he liked to sleep around just so he could rub it on Harper's face. I didn't realize how sensitive Brandon was until when it counted. The way he repeatedly chanted "You are not alone" almost made me bawl my eyes out when I was reading this book.

The way Harper blossomed was so beautiful and her friendship with Brandon was something to yearn for. If you like riding an emotional roller coaster when reading a book but still having fun doing it, I would highly suggest this book.

Read my review of Undefeated here, book 2 of the Bomb Squad series.

Everyone fears what hunts in the shadows…especially the monsters.

It takes a monster to hunt one, and for Raine McCord, forged in the maelstrom of magic and science, she’s the one for the job. In a world where the supernatural live in a shadowy existence with the mundane, a series of disappearances and deaths threatens the secrecy of her kind and indicates someone knows the monsters are alive and kicking. Partnering up with the sexy and tantalizing Gavin Durand proves to be a challenge as dangerous as the prey she hunts.

When the trail points back to the foundation which warped Raine’s magic as a child, her torturous past raises its ugly head. Gavin and Raine sift through a maze of lies, murder and betrayal to discover not only each other, but the emerging threat to them and the entire magical community.

Walking into the dim house, Raine braced for the usual smell accompanying a violent death. She knew that smell. It was distinctive. It reminded a person of raw meat and coppery blood. A scent warning you whatever you found, it wouldn’t be recognizable.

Coming down the short entryway, a few steps behind the two men, she realized there was no odor. No blood, no raw meat. She let out the breath she was holding. Only then picking up on the spine tingling traces of magic. It raised bumps along her skin as she drew closer to the front room.

Two agents passed her, heading out of the house, small evidence bags in their gloved hands. Osborn stopped just to the left of the front room’s entryway. Gavin came to a halt in the middle of the opening, blocking her view. Stepping around to his right she came to an abrupt stop, puzzled.

Bane Mayson was sprawled on the faded green couch under the picture window. At first glance the scene didn’t make sense. There were no visible wounds, no horrific mutilations, nothing to show how he died. Just the skitter of magic down her spine, making the deceptively calm scene in front of her much more ominous.

“Can you give a positive ID?” Osborn’s rough voice pulled her gaze back to him. He looked at Gavin who wasn’t answering. She tilted her head to find out why, and then realized Gavin was looking at her.

“What?” she asked.

“I’ve never met him,” he said blandly. “Just spoke to him on the phone.”

“Oh.” A little disconcerted, she turned back to the waiting agent. “Yes, that’s Bane Mayson.”
