Tess must help solve the five-year-old cold case of Hannah Reid’s disappearance, because solving the case will save Kipp. But a bigger problem presents itself. Tess is falling in love with a ghost. Now she must decide. Keep Kipp forever, or find the killer.

I don't like ghosts...

I didn't really pay attention about what the book was about because I like Stacey Kennedy books. When I finally got the book, I was curious what I was getting into, so I went to Goodreads to read the blurb. When I found out it was a ghost story, I searched for blogger reviews about it, in case I wanted to cancel my commitment. The blogger reviews were pretty promising so I went and dove in.

I love it when authors are able to make something scary into something tolerable, even sexy. That's what Stacey Kennedy did with this book.

I could only imagine what Tess was going through, having to deal with the ghosts who kept bugging her to help them move on. She was usually good at ignoring them, that is, until Kipp started "harassing" her. He wouldn't stop talking to her, partly because he knew she could hear him. In a short amount of time, he figured out a way to get her attention: dirty talk.

This book had great scenes of just that. I appreciated those scenes ;) Obviously, Tess and Kipp couldn't touch for obvious reasons, so Kipp resorted to talking. It's like phone sex, except they were in the same room without a phone.

I could see the frustration from Tess, relaying the message to the living from Kipp. Falling in love, however, was definitely worth it. I don't know how they would make it work in the second book, but I definitely am not scared of this particular ghost story! Even though there weren't many steamy scenes, I think the book itself was pretty steamy. Let's just say, it appealed to me.

As for the other characters, they sure were hilarious at times. I really appreciate books with humor in them!

Favorite scenes:
Caley's mouth parted to say more when she caught sight of Zach. She dropped her hands and ran her gaze over every inch of his body. She reached into her pocket, dialed a number and held it up to her ear. "Brandon, I'm sorry to say that things aren't going to work out between me and you."
Now the random questions were tedious and personal. I had my arms crossed on the table with my chin resting on top of my hands. "Your wife's name is Cynthia," I answered Max's last question as I counted the little specks of black dots on the fake wood table.

"I've got one she can't know," Eddie exclaimed. "Where's my birthmark?"

"On his balls," Kipp replied.

"Balls," I said, then realized what had come out of my mouth. I raised my head, glancing at Kipp, whose eyes hadn't wavered from their position on me. "How do you know his birthmark is on his balls?"

"He told me," Kipp answered, appearing comfortable with his admission.

"Y'all talk about birthmarks on each other's balls?" I laughed. "Men think women get personal with each other, what a strange piece of knowledge to know about someone else."

Kipp shrugged. "It came up one night."
"Then why do you do it? I mean, it's so depressing." Zach glanced over his shoulder, smiling in grand-scale. I'd imagine we're all addicted to the rush of finding a killer."

A rush? Like a stock car racer's driving rush, jump out of an airplane rush, buying expensive shoes rush? I couldn't place the feeling. "It seriously gives you a rush?"

"The best adrenaline rush that exists," Kipp said.

Eddie chuckled. "A rush intense enough to give you a stiffy." I glanced back at him and I held no doubt my disgusted feelings showed on my face. "Okay, I'm sorry, but that's seriously gross." The men's laughter filled the air around me.

"It's just the power of it," Zach said. "It's primal." I shook my head a little, trying to get away from the yucky feelings crawling up my spine. "And you think I'd accept a job now? Knowing that when we're close to solving a case, your dicks are hard?" Suddenly, a thought occurred to me and I stopped dead.

Eddie ran into the back of me. "Shit." He stumbled, peeling himself off my back.

"Sorry."

I glanced between the men as all their gazes focused on mine. Then I looked over each of their crotches. "You're not all hard now, are you?" When I raised my gaze back to their faces, each man smiled, even Kipp. "Oh my God, you're all so disgusting." I waved them forward. "Go, get."
It only made them laugh louder.
