There’s no telling what will happen when Cupid sends his naughty muses to the mortal world to spice up love lives, but one thing’s for sure—it’ll be H-O-T!

Kate Lindsey’s husband died four years ago, and while she believes she’s finally ready to move on, she’s still sending out “Grieving Widow” signals that keep men at bay. Until one stormy evening when the sexy man she’s crossed paths with at the library shows up at her door.

Unbeknownst to Kate, Edward is one of the muses determined to reignite a mortal’s passion, and he intends to give her one steamy night of pure pleasure. Will Kate take the bait?

Guest Post

I loved the idea of writing one sizzling-hot scene that has enough content around it to constitute a short story, without having to delve deep into back story or drag out decisions to overcome obstacles and conflict. So when I started reading Decadent Publishing’s The Edge Series, I brainstormed my own series (Cupid’s Naughty Muses) that keeps in theme with the paranormal, short read, but which delivers a sexy read in a small package. Five- to seven-thousand words is, indeed, a quick romp!

In I Burn For You, you won’t find the last four years’ of Kate’s struggle following her husband’s death, but you will discover how it still impacts her. Along with the opportunity she has to move forward with her life, if she’s brave enough to rise to the occasion.

One of the best things about being a writer is that you don’t always have to craft Diana Gabaldon-length novels in order to tell a story. Sometimes, you can give readers a glimpse into a character’s life and share a watershed moment that changes the character’s viewpoint and helps to open a door for them. In short stories, that’s all that’s intended.

So while it’s difficult to dream up a couple of characters you really like and only let them see the light of day for a brief period of time, if they mean something to the author and her readers, they just might show up in a longer book. I hope you enjoy Kate’s short, yet poignant journey.

  6. Short stories are great since I don't have as much time to read as I'd like with a busy toddler. Thanks for sharing this steamy read

  9. if the book is super good and from my favorite author, I definitely enjoy long novels :D But if it is some kind of erotica, I do prefer it short and straight to the point
