A man driven by his desires

Tyler Moore is considered cold, ruthless, and determined to get everything he wants. CEO of a flourishing oil company, he thrives on order and never gives up control to anyone.

The woman from his past

Monique Delome has left her unhappy past behind to pursue her dream of becoming a writer. Love is something she believes is better suited to the pages of her novels and not meant for real life.

Whether in the boardroom or the bedroom, Tyler Moore is always in charge. But when Monique Delome walks back into his life, everything changes. A successful romance author, all the sexy leading men Monique writes about strangely remind everyone of Tyler. Intrigued, Tyler sets out to seduce the one woman he could never forget. Soon Tyler gets more than he bargained for, and his grip on his well-ordered life is turned upside down.

Tyler Moore is about to find out what happens when a romantic tale jumps from the pages and comes to life between the sheets.

Review

So far, this book is light and interesting. Below is a list of things I liked and things that I could have done without.

Things I enjoyed:
  • When Tyler wants something, he works hard to get it. From what I've read so far, Tyler is a smart guy. He's given a second chance with the only woman who he truly cares about, and he's not wasting any time chasing after her.
  • Monique might be independent, but she's also true to herself. Giving Tyler a second chance to prove that they could have something more than what they had is a good personality trait in my opinion.
  • Tyler's secretary - she's all kinds of awesome sauce. She's the reason why everything goes as smooth as it does in the company. Check out this little snippet of her conversation with Tyler.
Tyler: "I guess I could leave after I finish this paperwork."
"Lynn: "Leave? You mean go home?"
Tyler: "No, I mean leave Dallas. You did say I needed a vacation."
Lynn: "You do, but a vacation for you usually revolves around something related to the company, like a conference or going to check out a new drilling site. You never just spontaneously take off without a set if itinerary of things to do."
Tyler: "You make me sound like a control freak."
Lynn: "You are."
Tyler: "Maybe I need to change things up a bit. Call Love Field and tell them to get the jet ready to fly tonight."
Lynn: "To where?"
Tyler: "New Orleans."
Lynn: "All right. What's up with you?"
Tyler: "Up? Nothing is up."
Lynn: "You're not the impulsive type, Mr. Moore. If you don't mind me asking, is there a woman involved?"
Tyler: "Okay, I do mind your asking."
Lynn: "Do you want me to call the Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans to get you a suite?"
Tyler: "No, I have somewhere else I can stay."
Lynn: "Somewhere else? But you always stay at the Ritz-Carlton."
Tyler: "Don't worry about it, Lynn. I'll be fine. Just arrange for a car to pick me up at the airport and take me into the city."
Lynn: "Are you sure about this, Mr. Moore? You're not really into roughing it on the road."
Tyler: "First, I'm a control freak, and now you're implying that I'm spoiled?"
Lynn: "You are spoiled. You like order, and for everything to run smoothly. I'm not sure how you're going to adapt to just being spontaneous."
Tyler: "I might surprise you, Lynn."
Lynn: "I look forward to it, Mr. Moore. I've never met anyone who could use a swift change of pace more than you."

Things I'm not too fond of:
  • The characters' ages. Tyler is 50. I mean, it's hard to read about a sexy man and him being 50. It's even harder to imagine someone having the time of his life in the bedroom and him being 50. As I'm reading this, I'm just pretending Tyler is in his 30s or something.

That's about it so far. My full review will be live on Amazon (hopefully this weekend) as soon as I finish it. Thanks for reading!

Secret Agent Marissa Jones has a gift. A con artist to the core, after deep hypnosis she can turn into someone else entirely. Marisa’s gift has gotten her into hot water over the years, but now more so than ever. With her smoking hot partner by her side, she needs to convince him that not only is she her true self, but also that she can be trusted—even in spite of her past.

…or traitors to the cause?

Trevor Harris has his own issues with the mission, he’s got revenge to seek, a cursed painting to secure, and Marissa’s sugary-sweet alter-ego to ignore. But when he releases Marisa from her mental cage and things get a little too hot, he ends up finding out what falling for a con artist really means—bigger trouble than ever before.

Review

This was an interesting story, very unique.

Marissa was good at her job, but only because she's under hypnosis. She's never done her work as herself. She was trained, ever since she was a young girl while she was under hypnosis.Working with Trevor in this mission caused her to finish the job as herself. Why?

Trevor wanted her so much, but he didn't want to take advantage of her while she was under.

Marissa and Trevor fought like cat and mouse. Somehow, they just couldn't see eye to eye. One thing they agreed on? They were incredibly attracted to each other.

This was the first interracial story I've read. It was totally hot! I loved that Marissa and Trevor wanted to protect each other regardless of their own safety. They had unconditional love for each other even though they didn't realize it.

The little twist about the result of the ceremony was a nice surprise...although, I did have a feeling they would do that. I would totally recommend this book. It was hot and adventurous :)

She Wants Him...
She Wants Him Not...

Lily Dawson, dubbed the Countess of Charm by the Prince Regent himself, plays the role of the courtesan flawlessly while her real purpose is spying in the service of the Crown. Her mission now is to seduce a duke to test his true loyalties. She'll do it, even though the man she really wants is Andrew Booth-Payne, Earl of Darlington—the duke's son.

Andrew is furious when he finds himself rivaling his father for Lily's attention. When he uncovers Lily's mission, Andrew is faced with impossible choices. It seems he is destined to betray either his family, his country, or the longings of his own heart...

Review

Charming until the very end!

From the first pages of this book, it was entertaining the way Lily worked her charm. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between Lily and Andrew. Andrew somehow expected the worst from Lily. Obviously, he was an idiot who didn't know what was in front of him.

I enjoyed Lily's resourcefulness and the proof of her training as an agent of the Crown. I loved reading about her skills to incapacitate a man who's trying to attack her, or even just to protect herself with a dagger. Her skills were definitely sexy, and I bet Andrew found it the same way.

Andrew was loyal to his parents to a fault. However, nothing would stand against his feelings for Lily...not even his parents. I liked that he valued his parents despite the secrets they kept.

I also loved reading about Lily's past. I was choked up when she was telling Andrew the horrible things she went through. She was such a strong woman and very inspirational. I applaud Andrew for wanting to comfort her instead of giving her the look of disdain that she was expecting from him. That, my friends, is what true love is.

The author really did such a great job writing a light and entertaining book. Lily was so charming, and so was Andrew. Together, they were perfect...

The Art Lover

Maggie Wells

a story made vivid by passion…

Blurb

Starving artist Kelsey Tecato takes being The Templeton Museum's artist in residence a little too literally. By day, she puts on a show of painting for the crowds that shuffle through the galleries, but at night, her muse runs wild.

Mitch Jameson is a guy's guy. A cop moonlighting as a security guard, he has little use for the artsy-fartsy stuff, but the mysterious Ms. Tecato's sexy portraits call to him.

So does an interior alarm.

When Officer Jameson goes to investigate, he finds a paint-splattered goddess working on a self-portrait--in the nude.

A couple tubes of paint and a roll in the drop cloths later, free-spirited Kelsey helps Officer Jameson discover his passion for art.

A quick read…only 33 pages !!

Excerpt

His gaze traveled over the discreet placard affixed to the wall, but he’d already memorized the pertinent facts. The paintings were created by someone named Kelsey Tecato, the museum’s ‘Artist in Residence’.

Coming on shift as the museum closed for the day, he’d searched the faces of museum patrons and employees as they straggled past the security station, but he’d yet to spot the one that matched the headshot of a studious-looking brunette featured in the museum brochure. When he oh-so-casually posed the question to Bert, he learned that meant Ms. Tecato’s art was being subsidized in exchange for her participation in demonstrations and exhibitions sponsored by the museum board. The knowing twinkle in the older man’s eyes when he clarified that the ‘in residence’ part didn’t refer to the artist’s living situation was enough to make him drop the subject. Bert was too damn nosy for a guy who never managed to pass the detective’s exam.

Forcing himself to put one foot in front of the other, he left the provocative portraits behind and turned toward the west end of the building. The Templeton rambled for nearly a city block but most of the space went unused. Exhibits occupied the open center space of the two-story building joined by a pair of sweeping marble staircases. The east side had been converted to classroom space decades before, but the warren of tiny rooms on the west end were primarily administrative offices and storage.

His heart started to pound when he picked up the murmur of a deep voice. Shifting the flashlight to his left hand, Mitch reached for his sidearm and came up empty. He was a guard tonight, not a cop. His service weapon was locked up safe in his apartment. At the end of the corridor he pulled up short, pressing his back against the wall and tightening his grip on the flashlight. He wore a panic button clipped to his belt but his instincts told him he wasn’t at the panic stage yet. Breathing soft and slow, he closed his eyes and focused his energy on catching a few words. Perhaps he could figure out what the intruders were after before making his presence known.

Thirty seconds passed. His eyes popped open then rolled heavenward as the droning voice segued into a bouncy pop song. The radio. Someone had left a radio playing in one of the offices. Shaking off the rush of adrenaline, Mitch pushed away from the wall and rounded the corner, only to come to a dead stop when he saw the fan of light spilling from the office at the very end of the hall.

Two things he knew for certain: the radio hadn’t been playing when he’d made his post-closing rounds, and that door on the end of the corridor hadn’t been open. He let the barrel of the flashlight slip through his fingers until he gripped the lamp. Wielding his only weapon like a club, he crept toward the door as silently as a guy who clocked in at six-four and two-ten could. Just outside the office, he caught a flash of movement inside the room and quickly pressed his back to the wall.

“About time you showed up.”

A woman. The intruder was a woman and she’d been expecting him. Irked by the presumptuous amusement in her tone, he stepped into the open doorway, prepared to let her have it, and almost swallowed his tongue.

Screw the flashing red lights. Alarm bells clamored in his head the moment recognition clicked. Kelsey Tecato. Artist in Residence. Painter of hard-on-inducing nudes. Live and in person, standing in the Templeton Museum after hours.

And naked as the day she was born.

And now Allie's realizes that she isn't quite sure who she wants...fun-loving Wade or quiet, restrained Cameron. Neither has been honest about their feelings, and now they have the chance to act on all of the tales that ignite their most primal desires.

Review

Steamy to the 10th power.

This book was basically porn in written form. I liked the characters enough, though there wasn't much development there since they were all consumed by lust for each other. This book definitely would take a reader out of his/her comfort zone. There were times when the characters would somewhat re-enact their stories. They were interesting to say the least.

I enjoyed Kitty's character. She was all in no matter what it was. She had no inhibitions, especially when it came to sex. Cameron was the character that took me out of my comfort zone. He was confusing; he was irresistibly unpredictable. Allie was the narrator and I liked that she accepted the challenge of being the dominant partner to help Cameron with his "issues." Wade was the least memorable character. I felt like he was just there to fill a foursome. I couldn't describe him besides that he's a good looking guy.

Overall, if you want details and vivid descriptions without actually watching a video, this book is for you. If you have a faint heart, I would not suggest this book. I also would not suggest reading this book in public ;)
