Blurb:

When it comes to passion, there are no rules.

She wasn’t supposed to hunger for him. Tim was off limits to Catherine, a high-priced call girl with an uneasy past. Indulging in his raw desire shouldn’t have happened, especially at a party attended by the nation’s elite. Tim doesn’t know she works for the agency. If he did… That’s not something Catherine wants to confess. Drowning in his strength and heat, aching to see him again, she keeps her secret.

Tim has never met anyone quite like Catherine. Exotic, elegant, earthy, she’s the best of all worlds. Their evenings are sensual delights where voyeurism, bondage and a growing bond satisfy carnal needs and stir something deep within—until he stumbles upon the truth.

Shaken by her lies, Tim needs to prove the depth of Catherine’s lust and yearning once and for all. For him, their erotic adventure has only begun.

Lies, lies and more damn lies…

In fiction, characters drive many plots with their lies, well meaning or otherwise. Eventually, their fabrications land them in hot water, threatening their lives, careers, or in the case of romance, their love.

In real life, it’s certainly as dicey.

I’m not one to weave fantastic tales in my private life. I’ve never been a good liar and I’ll tell you why. I was caught at it big-time when I was 14. In those days, I was extremely shy, fairly unpopular and attending an old-girl high school where the kids were privileged and behaved as the entitled often do. I attended the school on scholarship. Think Jo in Facts of Life. I didn’t have gorgeous clothes, nor did I live in a ritzy house. As far as having a boyfriend—yeah, right. I was convinced that was never going to happen for me.

In those dark days, my only escape was the dance classes I took on weekends. The girls there were not as rich, nor as snooty as the ones I went to school with, so when two of them struck up a conversation near me, I decided to join in. They were complaining about their boyfriends as only 14-year-old females can do. Not having a guy to call my own, I thought of a boy I’d met recently at a mixer. Dude totally ignored me. Didn’t matter. I knew his name, and that was enough. With little forethought, I told the girls I was dating him. They exchanged a startled glance. I thought it was because I was too ugly for him to consider going out with me.

Not even close.

Their BFF was dating this guy. So why did I say I was going out with him?

Because I’d lost my mind? I wanted to die. Even now, the memory pains me.

However, it did give me insight into my story for Losing Control, Book Two in my Appointment with Pleasure series. The plot begins with a fabrication that spirals out of control. In the beginning, Catherine believes her lies are necessary, until she falls in love with Tim. Then, it’s nearly impossible for her to make things right again.

Excerpt
He was the one man she’d been forbidden to meet…to sleep with, exploring her most pressing carnal needs. With him, there would be many. Deep, hungry kisses, the feel of his nudity confining hers. His body hot, hard, demanding. His clean skin scented with musk.

At the thought of what she wasn’t allowed, Catherine Oliver whimpered.

He didn’t hear. He was in the foyer, at the bottom of the mansion’s sweeping staircase, one of tonight’s party attendees, not yet aware of her presence.

Good sense told Catherine to slip back into the powder room where she’d checked her makeup and hair a few minutes before. A group of women exited the spacious room now, some young, others matronly, all decked out in pricey gold necklaces, shimmering diamonds, rubies, pearls, designer silks and velvets. They left a trail of subtle perfume in their wake as they moved past her and the landing to the far end of the hall. Expensive fabrics swirled delicately around their ankles, a perfect match to their well-bred murmurs and subdued laughter.

Beneath it, Catherine heard Alexa Marsh’s warning in her mind.

“Tim Bellamy might be at the party this evening. He’s bad news, believe me. Stay away from him.”

Catherine didn’t retreat, not taking as much as a step back.

A lifetime of having others say she couldn’t do this or couldn’t be that had nurtured a stubborn streak. It and pure will had propelled her from less-than-humble beginnings to this Georgetown estate tonight. What she knew of Tim Bellamy—along with seeing him in the flesh, so to speak—kept her rooted to the spot, curious, needy for more. She trailed her fingertips over the polished mahogany banister, imagining she was touching the hard planes of his chest, his strong arms, his cock stiffened for her alone.

God, he was something.

In his early thirties, he wore his dark blond hair cropped short on the sides with a bit of length at the top. After a few minutes of bed play, those thick locks would surely tumble over his forehead. His eyes were gray, his features masculine, downright aristocratic, a strong jaw and rich mouth. The kind a long-ago ruler might have owned, his deep baritone equally impressive as he ordered his newest concubine…an untried virgin…to pleasure him or else.

On a quiet sigh, Catherine leaned against the rail, drinking him in.

Despite his blond hair and ashy eyes, his complexion was a healthy bronze, as though he’d recently spent time in sun-drenched climes rather than the District’s dreary winter. It wasn’t hard to imagine him naked on a beach, his lean, muscled body flexing with each step he took across the sand, or him riding a horse bareback, his strong thighs hugging the animal, the breeze tugging his hair.

A wave of warmth radiated from Catherine’s chest to her face. She gripped the rail, unable to pull her attention from him.

His expensive tux draped his frame perfectly. He was a tall man. Six-two according to the dossier the agency had on him. One she’d gone through repeatedly, drooling over his photos, impressed by his education and that he’d turned his back on his family’s business to carve out a career of his own. Not only had he succeeded in that endeavor, those on the Hill respected him. Whether his stand on issues was popular or not, he was a man others knew would never go back on his word. He never promised what he couldn’t deliver. He didn’t lie.

Catherine liked that and wished she could say the same about herself, rather than watching him like some sicko voyeur. It was all she was allowed and it wasn’t nearly enough.

Blurb:

Ashley Thompson had a wild time at her party last Friday night. Maybe too wild. She wakes to find a video of her in the middle of a ménage a trois with her ex-boyfriend and a gorgeous stranger. Unable to remember anything about the night, other than the hot sex she sees on the computer screen, Ashley begins a search for Mr. Hunk. She has no luck until he unexpectedly shows up–in her shower.

Hunter Hopewell intends to introduce Ash to a variety of sexual experiences he finds fun and exciting. He proposes a weeklong series of “colorful” encounters designed to seduce Ashley out of her kink comfort zone.

As their week of escalating pleasure intensifies, Ashley must choose to let go of her inhibitions or risk losing the best damn lover she’s ever had.

Excerpt
The bathroom door opened and closed. Her hands froze.

"Damn it, Sam. Why is it every time I take a shower you have to pee? Couldn't you just hold it for once? Or pee in a cup, for God's sake?"

"I'm not Sam. And I don't have to pee."

Ashley's eyes popped open and the bottle of body wash hit the tub with a loud thunk. The husky voice she'd heard on yesterday's video and in this morning's dream was richer in person. Sexier. Her heart took off like a deer after a shotgun blast. She peered at the shower door, seeing only a shadowy figure through the opaque glass. Well thank, God, for that. He couldn't see her either.

"Hello? Are you there, Ash?" The amusement in his tone brought her back to earth.

"Yeah, I'm here. And just who the hell are you?"

"I'm Hunter Hopewell. Sorry we didn't really get introduced the other night."

"No shit." Damn. The all-important name meant nothing. The spray from the shower roared in her ears and Ashley took a step toward the shower door.

"So who are you? I mean, you say Hunter Hopewell, but I don't know you. And you know me."

"Yes, I do. I've never met you, but I've been interested in you for a while now."

Despite the hot water, chills raced over her body, standing her hair on end. Oh, my God. A stalker. I've attracted a stalker. And I'm shut in a bathroom with him. Suddenly, she couldn't breathe.

"You work over in English at the university." He knew where she worked. "And I've seen you around the campus." He'd been watching her.

She wrapped her arms around her chest, shielding her body as best she could. Maybe Sam would come in.

"You're a beautiful girl, Ashley. With lots of potential."

Potential for what? Needing to breathe or pass out, she gasped in air.

"I think you should leave." Where the balls came from to utter that sentence, she had no idea.

"Why?" His voice rose an octave.

"Because you're scaring the crap out of me."

7 Tips For Seduction

Because my newest release is titled 7 Days of Seduction, I though it might be fun to look at some tips on how to seduce a man.  Men and women have been seducing one another since time began.  So I thought you might like some info that could make your next seduction a bit easier to accomplish.

1.  A little shared danger is a proven aphrodisiac. Try going to a scary movie, skating, or ride roller coasters at an amusement park.  It gets the juices flowing.

2.  Shared laughter creates a bond.  Laugh at his jokes.  Create cute private jokes just between you two, to help strengthen that bond.

3.  The sense of touch is irresistible.  If you’ve been talking to a guy for a while, reach over and touch his hand.  The unexpected contact will signal a connection that will turn him on.

4.  Make him see red.  According to various studies, men are more attracted to women who wear the color red.

5.  The eyes have it.  Be sure to look into his eyes, stare a little longer than is comfortable, then glance away.  It will signal you are definitely interested.

6.  Chocolate--the taste of love.  Share some chocolate with your quarry. It increases serotonin in the brain--which produces feeling similar to falling in love.

7.  Dance the night away.   Lead him out on the dance floor. Show him your moves. Dancing together is a great way to stimulate sexual chemistry between you.

Do you have any tips or any sure fire moves to seduce a man?

Arianne: Those are some great tips! Thanks Jenna for stopping by and sharing!

It's been a while since witches had to worry about being burnt at the stake…

Forty-nine, English and a professional crone, Sophronia is touring America when she is forced to spend the night at a run-down motel on the Californian coast. Her expectations aren't high- - if the bed's clean and the toilet flushes she'll count herself lucky. But events are about to become far more interesting. The motel owner is a juvenile witch unaware of her heritage and in dire need of help, especially when vampires turn up...

Excerpt
Professional crone Sophronia lets her heart rule her head when she meets juvenile witch, Charlie. Then the vampires turn up…

The figure turned and I got my first sight of the vampire. Tall and good-looking in the sharp, defined way they all are, he had dark blond hair and eyes that were a fabulous ultramarine blue… He smiled as he studied me, like a cat that’s just seen a very juicy mouse…

“It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance, my dear Mrs. Sheridan.” He loomed over me. Vampires have no concept of personal space. “Charlotte has told me so much about you.”

“How nice, although there’s so little to tell.” “Charlie, what have you been saying about me?” Despite my urgent tone, Charlie ignored me and I winced when I saw the dreamy adoration in her eyes. You never look in a vampire’s eyes if you can help it. It’s how they get that first hold over you.

“Nonsense. It’s been enthralling.” He smiled, showing lots of white teeth, but no fangs as yet. “Although apparently you weren’t very keen to meet me.”

“Goodness, who said that? I love meeting new people.” I projected the lightest, airiest of insinuations at him. “There’s no point bothering with me. It would be a waste of your valuable time” The vampire turned back to us, all dark charm again. “Ladies. I invite you to my home.”

“You mean The Cabal?” From the excitement in Charlie’s voice I didn’t need to be a mind reader to know she’d suddenly forgotten all about her vampire boyfriend.

“Of course. Do you like champagne?” “I’ve never tasted it,” she said and I wanted to hit her over the head with something. At this rate he wasn’t going to have to compel her even slightly.

As they walked toward the car, I hung back. “Um…I’ll stay here if you don’t mind.”

The vampire turned round. “I do mind,” he said, with considerably less charm, not that Charlie noticed. “You gotta come, Mrs. Sheridan. It’s the biggest casino this side of Crescent City. It’s got a nightclub and a sports complex and the shopping mall is fantastic. All the biggest designer brands have a--”

“It sounds lovely,” I lied, “but I’m feeling rather tired. You go on, sweetie, and I’ll see you in the morning.”

“Don’t you want to come?” She sounded amazed but, before I could reply, the vampire patted her arm.

“That’s fine, Charlotte. If Mrs. Sheridan is too tired, of course we mustn’t insist. Anton.” He snapped his fingers and the driver got out the car. He was a vampire as well, of course, and I could see another one sitting on the other side. Suddenly the place teemed with them.

“Anton will get you settled, my dear,” he said and Charlie got in without a murmur. “Let me just say goodbye to Mrs. Sheridan and then we’ll go.”

He smiled paternally at her before returning to me. The look on his face sent me scuttling into reception as fast as I could, though it was pointless. The place didn’t belong to me and Charlie had already invited him in. I’d barely blinked before I found myself pinned against a wall. My personal space thus invaded, the vampire dropped all pretense at being civilized. His eyes seemed to darken.

“Sophronia,” he said, the growl in his voice very pronounced, “there’s an acquisitive Russian back at my house, sizing up my possessions and growing more confident every second I’m away. I don’t have time for a scene.”

“And I don’t want to make one, honestly, Hagen,” I pleaded, doing my best to appear meek, “but I am very tired. Tell you what, I’ll come tomorrow. How about that?”

He narrowed his eyes. “You think I don’t know that if I leave you alone for a second you’ll be away as fast as you can?”

“Absolutely not, Hagen. I wouldn’t dream of--” “Sophronia, you have a choice. Either get in the car of your own volition, or I’ll have you put in the trunk and you can travel to my House that way. But I warn you, if that happens it will make me very unhappy and you won’t like me when I’m unhappy.”

I didn’t like him now. “Hagen, I absolutely swear to you that I won’t go anywhere. I’ll--”

“I’m walking out the door, Sophronia,” he said. “What’s it to be? Are you joining me or should I instruct Torsten to start making room in the trunk for you?”

I wondered if I could make it to my own car in time but then yet another vampire appeared near the entrance, his eyes reflecting red in the night. Since I had no choice I walked out to the car.

The vampire didn’t even have the courtesy to look surprised.

About the Author :
I live in the UK with my husband, two sons, two cats and a dog. I am a French and English teacher which I love and it pays the bills, but I got hooked on writing when I entered a short story competition at the age of eighteen and wrote of my own free will without a homework deadline looming. I’ve been waiting for the impulse to wear off ever since…

I wrote this story when I was coming up to my 50th and feeling a bit sorry for myself. I love the vampire/paranormal genre - Buffy and Sookie in particular - but there comes a time when you just can’t identify with gorgeous, pert twenty-somethings any more and it seems a little undignified to even want to. I also love Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels about Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg – two of the wiliest crones in the business – but wanted something a little more glamorous and contemporary; I can only take so much stuff with the frogs and the cauldrons. When it comes to supernatural powers I’ve always preferred Julian May’s metapsychics in the Saga of the Exiles, so that’s how Sophronia was created. Hagen was easy.

Obviously heroes can’t be murderers, but I wanted a vampire who wasn’t wracked with guilt over his diet and who seemed to be having fun being an immortal. I hope people will enjoy reading SOPHRONIA AND THE VAMPIRE as much as I enjoyed writing it.

When lightning sparks an old flame, desires blaze to life, and Shanay and Ethan are left with little choice but to roll with passion's Wild Thunder.

Review

Passionate, but not enough.

This book was so short. Usually I enjoy short books like this. However, I wished it was longer. There were character developments which were good. The sex was good, but I felt it wasn't enough. The ending in itself felt incomplete. I think if this book was longer, it would have been better. I didn't feel like I had closure.

I wanted to know more about Shanay and her background. I wanted to read more about her secret feelings for Ethan. Bottomline, I wanted to know more.

I did like that they were in a cabin high up in the mountains. I enjoy reading about unusual locations apart from the traditional bedroom scenes.

Excerpt
Carefully stepping around scattered, fractured boards, trunks and lengths of tangled rope, Jordan and Ferrous neared the last grouping of rocks at the trees’ edge. Jordan sighed. About time.

A faint heartbeat crawled out of the obscure shadows, stalked up his spine. Something lived from this bloody mess. Though barely.

Jordan stilled.

Ferrous turned to the left. “I feel it too.”

Jordan followed.

On the opposite side of the rocks, jagged boards bumped, clattering against a boulder. A mass of tangled human remains bobbed and swayed with each lap of water against the shore.

From this mess, a heartbeat cried. Jordan closed his eyes and sighed as his stomach flipped. He would find it. He stepped into the water amid the carnage and shuddered. I must move as hastily as possible. I can do this. The sound of life grasped him as if a hand itself clasped his flesh. He flinched, then turned to the left.

An arm’s length away, half in the water, lay a woman. Her limbs were twisted and broken, as if made of nothing more than weeds. A man’s head, severed from the body it had once belonged to, floated close to her hand. Jordan’s heart pinched, and the scales on his elbows prickled anew.

No one deserved to be half alive after experiencing a tragedy such as this. He stepped up next to her, knocking the human debris away with his boot. He leaned down and wrapped one hand about her slim, bare shoulders. The other he slid beneath her knees, fisting up a handful of her full skirts. She should have drowned in such a garment. He lifted her, pulling her body up against his.

She hung like a sack of barley in his grasp. Her long, wet skirts and hair trailed cold water in a stream, trickling over the rocks and babbling down into his boots. He turned and stumbled along the slag toward the trees.

Ferrous turned after him. “She won’t live, Jordan.” He strode behind him. “Leave her.”

Her clothing, laden with seawater, soaked his coat in blood. Was it hers or the rotting blood of the pool in which she had lain? He shook his head. Don’t think about the stench. He grimaced. Think about her.

Ferrous was right. She would never live.

He fell to his knees and laid her on the high grass that bordered the trees. Her dress was that of an aristocrat, finely tailored with small pearls and embroidery now torn open down to her flesh in several places. Her hair had been swept up with the sun, golden rays that now hid beneath a cloud of red death. “I will end her suffering.” Yes, that was the correct thing to do.

“For bloody sake, Jordan. You are not to indulge unless you have an inkling she may be the one. There are no exceptions to our rules. Look what happens to Ilmir when he breaks one. Who knows what calamity awaits us in London.”

Jordan’s jaw clenched, and he narrowed his eyes, refusing to look at Ferrous, who stood behind him. “This is different, and you damn well know it. I am not Ilmir, and she is not a woman I am courting. She is dying.”

“Being chivalrous?” Ferrous threw up his hands, grumbled and walked through the trees back toward the shore. “Make haste. I wish to make this hellish scene vanish this hellish scene and be to London to deal with Ilmir.”

Did Ferrous truly think he wanted to do this? To kill another woman was the last thing he wished. Twenty years had passed… Jordan inhaled a deep breath and blew it out between tense lips. He ran his fingers down her pale cheek and around her chin, tilting her face toward his. A slender nose, full, angelic lips, and noble cheekbones. A beauty. “To a better afterlife, dear.”

He raised her chin, exposing her long, graceful neck and faintly beating pulse. Another death…

Dash it. He stared unblinking at the slight flutter of her blood beneath her skin. Relax, Jordan. He closed his eyes and exhaled. All will be well.

Prickling pain clawed through the roof of his mouth as his two pointed teeth extended into thin slivers of bone. He stared down at her neck. She had been floating in blood and seawater. He spit on her neck, twice. His saliva glimmered as it slid down her throat to the grass below. There, that should wash away the dirt she had stewed in. Or would it? His throat tightened. Don’t lick her. Be done with it.

He leaned in and pressed his teeth to her vein. His mouth opened, saliva pooled heavily, and his tongue thickened. The pouches by his back teeth filled with poisonous blood, forcing his jaw still wider. He inhaled a jagged breath. His heart leapt and pounded, vibrating through his entire being…

Bite her, Jordan. Be done with it. Bite her.

Her faint pulse bumped against his teeth, willing him to take her as his mate. Mate? Well, that urge was pointless. She would pass just as swiftly as the others. He rolled his lip back and hissed, then pressed, slicing through her soft, salty outer skin and into her tepid blood flowing below.

She didn’t flinch.

This was the first time he had taken a woman when he was not passionately joined with her. Odder yet not to have her scream. To have her do nothing but lie on the wilted grass.

He swallowed. Dirt be damned, he needed to taste her and know that one essence of the life he now took. He fluttered his tongue on her smooth skin. Warm, salty blood slid thickly down his tongue. Damn. His muscles quivered as his poisonous blood streamed from his pouches and down his teeth, twisting into her veins. His cock pressed painfully hard against his thigh.

The task was done. There would be no more. He would not take his pleasure in her. He would not know the feel of her flesh against his. He would never know her favorite color. This woman, like all the others who had come before, was not meant to be his. Enough!

He growledand opened his mouth wide. Her soft flesh slipped from his fangs. He pulled his head back, and their mixed blood trailed in streams down her neck and dress. His vision shifted and popped. Adrenaline mixed with power bubbled through his veins. This…this, he had missed.

This was what he was meant to be. His full elemental power at a glimpse. He tossed his hair back and then growled a dragon’s cry up to where the moon should hang in a radiant, colored vision. Yet only the ebony fog resided tonight. There was no moon to lighten this scene. His vision rippled with detailed clarity. Ah. Indeed. This was the power that years of existence without his mate had diminished. He wanted this power back. It had been too long. In a burst of speckled light, everything changed back to somber mist. Bloody hell. His throat closed off, and his eyes burned. No! He swallowed hard, and his shoulders sagged. This was a tease. A temptation.

He closed his eyes and shook his head. He would never know more of what the Zir were than this… Death and a glimpse of the exhilarating power they were destined to have.

He inhaled and smelled her metallic, sweet blood on his lips. His tongue traced his teeth and upper lip, gathering up the enslaving essence. Sweet orange blossoms and candied cherries. His made-up version of what she should taste like. Remember her. His jaw trembled as hot blood pounded through him to his groin. His soul wanted more of her. To mate. To love. To live a lifetime of companionship.

He clenched his teeth, and his fangs pierced his lower lip. You have done enough to end her suffering. Quite enough. Let her be. He opened his eyes once more.

A shadow shaped as Ferrous stood head down and arms straight out in the air at the rocks’ edge. “Make haste. I wait no more.”

Jordan placed her head softly back on the grass. “Will scant be a moment more of pain, beauty.” He trailed his hand down her broken arm to a heavy, thick bracelet looping her wrist. He unclasped the chain and slowly rubbed the metal between his fingers. His token of her death. He tucked the jewelry in his inner coat pocket, then rose to his full height. Turning to his left, he skulked into the inky woods.

My favorite paranormal story of all time

Hello and thank you so much for having me here today. Sadly I don’t really I have a single favorite paranormal story.  I do have several books that I enjoy reading and have read several times.

Vampires:

Anything  by AnneRice.

This book is one of my favorites of all time, too! :) --Arianne

I also have a friend who writes a neat vampire series called The Vampire Counsel of Ethics. Her name is T.J. Michaels and you can find more information about her here: http://www.tjmichaels.com/bookshelf/

As for other paranormal-ish books that inspire me:

Constantine the graphic novels and Movie:

Mary Riley by Valerie Martin: A take on Dr. Jekyll and MrHyde. I liked the movie too but not as much.

And for fantasy:

Elric of Melnibone by Michael Moorcock

Do you have suggestions on others I should add to my list?  I would love to hear suggestions.

Oh and If you have not heard yet I am doing a drawing at the end of January for some cool items.  So please stop by my blog and comment/sign up to be included.
Enjoy!
